    Question Knife Rights

I have read plenty of rules of carrying a knife in public and have come up with the result that possession of weapon of any kind is against the law in Washington. Does anyone have experience of carrying a knife(3 inches or under and not a spring or switchblade) in public visible or concealed? If so, did you get in trouble or need a permit to carry one?

I'm asking these because i own a 3 inch Gerber knife that I might want to carry as a means of self defense (I have a long of gang activity in my area).

Which is exactly why I'm confused. It sounds like any kind of weapon could be considered illegal. An y law enforcement have any experience with this?

When i was 18 i was charged with carrying a conceald weapon. The situation was i had a fixed blade in a sheath a police officer stopped me walking down a street late at night. They were looking for someone who broke into a car near by. I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The actual people were caught bbut after i was questioned, searched and detained.
