I have a concealed carry permit but don't carry a weapon unless traveling. I understand laws vary by state so - in VA:
1. For "exposed" carry I hear the gun should be unloaded and ammo stored separately. How would I accomplish this on a motorcycle?
2. When is it legal to pull a firearm?
3. When is it legal to actually shoot someone?
If traveling through a state that doesn't recognize VA's permit, do I just carry the gun exposed?
Thanks for any help. I don't want to wind up on the wrong side of the law for simpling protecting myself.

Thank you. I had reviewed the VA sites before but they were too bureacratic to digest. The Florida site you provided was excellent addressing use of deadly force. My only other worry is avoiding legal conflict carrying while riding cross country. I think I'm legal concealing in states that have a reciprocity agreement with VA but am concerned with those that don't. I guess I'll just keep it conceled (with my VA permit) and hope for the best.
