My girlfriend and I have been living together for several months. I have sole physical and legal custody of my daughter. We all get along very well, and my girlfriend and I are discussing our future life together, marriage, kids, etc.

Now my ex wants her to move out and is threatening legal action.

If we function well as a family unit, and my daughter is happy, we think that should be respected. However, we are not sure how the judges in northern Virginia would respond.

One attorney I spoke with says it should not be an issue. Another said I will probably lose custody. I hear lots of different perspectives, but was curious what others here thought based on what you know of the VA court system.

Assuming this is the only major issue brought before the court, and a therapist supports the relationship and circumstance, what do people think?

Do we all stay together?

Or does have my girlfriend have to move out until we get married?
