Hi I want to host a house party. I would not serve alcohol but my friends would and they would charge a cover charge at the door. I would obviously not anyone to be underage or anyone to drink and drive but both scenarios are hard to prevent. My question is what would my legal liabilities be if either case occurred. Also any steps I could take to prevent either scenario would be appreciated.
Make the party an "invite only" and make sure every invitation is for a friend who is 21 or over. Then, just like at the bars, post a bouncer at the front door to check invites. Have a call list of available cab companies close by so that calls can be made when it's time to leave.
