I remember hearing a few years back that Virginia was in the process of streamlining its sexual code to remove the anti-fornication (pre-marital sex) statute. Did this ever go through, and on a side inquiry, does anyone ever get prosecuted for this? It seems a tad ridiculous.
There are a ton of ridiculous laws still on the books, this being one of them..... The communist, excuse me, commonwealth state of Virginia is not alone in this area.
§ 18.2-344. Fornication.
Any person, not being married, who voluntarily shall have sexual intercourse with any other person, shall be guilty of fornication, punishable as a Class 4 misdemeanor.
(Code 1950, §§ 18.1-188, 18.1-190; 1960, c. 358; 1975, cc. 14, 15.)
