I am trying to move into a duplex, taking over my friend 'Marys' lease. She is getting married this December and has already moved out because of troubles. Apparently one of the roommates (Sarah) got very, very drunk and an argument broke out. Now, Sarah and her roommate are refusing to sign the release form for ANYBODY who shows interest in the lease (I am not the first). They do not have anybody in mind to take over the lease, and Sarah insists that because her parents 'don't know me' I cannot move in. When I asked if I could meet her parents, she told me they were busy (Although how she found out their schedule for two whole weeks in under thirty seconds still confuses me). These two roommates are doing it out of spite, and for no real reason. Mary is already stressed from the wedding preparations, as well as school.

The realty company that owns the duplex refuses to get involved. I understand that they only care about the money (apparently their matinence is terrible), as most landlords do.

I no longer want to move into this place - these two girls (I refuse to call them women) are acting childish and immature, and cannot call themselves college students. However, I want to help my friend so that she doesn't have to pay for an empty apartment room until May.

Can anyone help me? Either a legal reason for them to sign a release form, or a good emotional arguement could help. Please, if anybody has any ideas, let me know! My friend has worried herself sick, and if I can help her, I will.
