Pharmacuetical companies often supply physicians with samples, which in turn are given to patients to try at no charge. This is a good way for patients to know if a drug will work for them before actually filling a prescription.
It is my understanding these sample products are NOT to be sold; however, the prescription company (provided by my employer's benefit plan) has begun filling my precriptions with samples and charging me for them.
Is it legal for a prescription service, such as Express-Scripts, to fill a prescription with sample products and charge customers for these?
If so, they are really making HUGE PROFITS...the employer pays premiums, the employees pay premiums, employees pay co-pays and the presciption company fills prescription with pharmacueticals they got for free!
