I am getting really frustrated with my daughters stepmother. She has and keeps giving my 16 year old daughter alcohol. Now...my daughter thinks it is okay because for the first time she was offered alcohol by "adult friends" in front of her father and he was in such shock they would do such a thing...stood back and said nothing. His wife had been giving her alcohol while he was at work...working late so he had been unaware of it til I brought it to his attention but he still had never ever seen it til this party.
I want to know if there is anything I can do about it. Serving alcohol to kids should be illegal. is it?
honestly? no one knows?
It is illegal to serve alchohol to a minor. There's nothing you can do unless you have proof that she has given her alchohol.
To be unprofessional about it, Utah LEO are nazi's against underage consumption of a minor. There are new laws that just recently came into effect about underage drinking. The person caught drinking underage will have to complete crime for life class or dui class. The person caught will also most likely have their license revoked. I have heard from attorneys that you suffer less punishment for being caught with cannabis/marijuana. I believe this all just for making money for the state and attorneys who charge 1000 dollars to talk to the judge for you on the phone. For this violation you can talk to the judge over the phone... Utah wants 500 dollars on top of the attorney fees.
