Default It it legal to despise all religions equally?

The UK law which prohibits "incitement to religious hatred" is it applicable only when you despise a particular religion in favour of another or, if you despise all religion equally is that then legal?

Thanks in anticipation and best regards,

    Ferguslea.

Well I won't pretend to know UK law well but if indeed the law you're citing says exactly "incitement to religous hatred" and says nothing else that would pertain to this than yes, it'd be the same for all religion equally.

However, I know you guys still have some free speech left somewhere (we're in the same boat) and generally speaking disagreeing with a religion or even poking fun of it won't land you in jail. Saying something downright distasteful and contempuous may get you in trouble though. Again, depending on how UK law usually works.

Thank you for that. this is one of those laws rushed through Parliament when the whole terrorist thing blew up (Pun intended)to stop nationalists and the like fanning the flames of hatred towards Muslims, the government are prosecuting people for social media posts and even tweets these days. What I worry about is that legislation went through about the same time, allowing local councils to mount covert surveillance on their own constituents, although it was supposed to be an anti terror measure only, councils have been spying on people who do not put their bins out on the correct days and who do not clean up after their dogs then prosecuting. I fear we are becoming a police state via the back door "to protect us from ourselves"
