I don't understand way this would placed in the Stupid Laws Category?
Besides drunk driving, cell phones and now texting is becoming one of the biggest driving hazzards.
Texting while driving should remain legal.
Texting while driving should be made illegal.
Texting and driving
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat from New York, last month introduced legislation that would require all states to adopt a texting ban for all drivers or face losing their federal highway grants.
Today, in a new national survey released from Nationwide Insurance, eight in 10 Americans say they support such a ban on texting while driving.

I obviously think this is a stupid law (if it passes) I am sure I am not the only one hence the poll. What's next no talking while driving? Are the violators going to go to texting anonymous? We have to draw the line in the sand at some point otherwise you will have no rights!
Well I guess you haven't known anyone (I hope) who's been in a terrible accident because the kid that hit them was more interested in his cell phone.
Now, his parents are being sued.
Driving a car, talking and texting on a cell phone are not a given right. They are considered a privilage. You use them improperly, someone pays the price.
There's a reason these states are trying to impose this law, to save lives and property.
+1
Of course it should be made illegal. If it distracts you from driving then ban it. I think texting is even more of a distraction than talking on your cell phone.
yep on of my good friends died from a car accident and they found her phone she was in the middle of a text when she went off the road. She was 20. Sad!!! Had the rest of her life ahead of her and was always cheerful a person you wanted to be around all the time so happy!! I definately think they should ban it
Correct. Because in calling, you are still able to look at the streets while driving, its just like speaking to a passenger in the car that you are driving. But in texting, you will have to of course look at your cellphone to see what you are texting. Obviously, your sight will be in your phone and not on the road. Now imagine if in that moment, while you are not looking at the road, someone suddenly passed by in front?
Hello,
I think it is against rule while driving you must concentrate on the driving not on the mobile phone or something else, otherwise it lead to the accident
Thanks

I think it's another stupid law, there are already laws on the books that state your NOT allowed to do ANYTHING that is distracting while driving.
I also read a reply that stated you were losing another right.
Driving is NOT a right it's a privalige! And texting while driving is just plan stupid!
We don't need another law, we just need the ones we have to be inforced.

I don't mind you texting while you drive on your own private road. That is your right. When driving on a public road where I might be killed, driving is a privilege and I prefer you pay attention to your driving.
I agree that there are sufficient laws on the books about being distracted so more are not required. The LEO need to enforce the distraction laws and the judges need to uphold them and set precedence.
