Search without consent

Can i be searched without consent if i have an open case? Or must a cop ask my permission still to go in my pockets?

It depends actually. If they just want to search your things for no reason but to check it then they'll have to have your consent. But if they suspected you for something, like you have a bomb or any dangerous material, then they don't really have to ask for your permission at all.

Fourth amendment laws apply to all 50 states and police officers must adhere to them. There are, however, differences in state laws that can make things easier or harder for cops to search. For example, in Pennsylvania is much harder for cops to search your car than it is in most other states. Understanding everything about it could take a long time. I was a police officer in NC for many years and I can tell you it's not hard in NC to legally search someones car or their person. Even when drivers were resistant to allow us to search, there was usually a way. The videos at flexyourrights.org are helpful.
