Well, here is the lowdown. I live in Rhode island. The woman i love lives in Colorado, and is 16. i am over 21. We are both very interested in making sure we take our time and do things the correct and legal way to be together. I have already decided that i am willing to deal with the social ramifications of being with a younger woman, but the legal ones could potentially seperate us if not followed to a tee. I know the age of consent in CO is 15, and the age of consent in RI is 16, so either way there i should be safe.
my questions are 2 fold.
1: Do i need worry about laws of rhode island or colorado? or both? It would make it easier to get this right if i knew.
and
2: her parents are divorced with joint custody. Would she need the consent of both parents, or would one suffice?
thankyou for your understanding and help.
Good day to you! In your case, its actually depends on the family and they both got the right to give consent. But its also depends on the one you love. If she really want to get through that kind of situation then parents got nothing to do with it (but only if she's in a right age). You don't have to rush thing anyway.
