Hi! I just started at a restaurant about a month ago and am contemplating quitting ASAP because almost everything about it is very shady.
One concern I wanted to ask about is that they add up the mistakes I make (examples: forgetting to charge the customer $0.60 for whipped cream on pancakes or $2.00 for a pudding or $2.25 for a cup of soup, etc etc) and charge me for all of it every two weeks out of my tips. I've worked at a lot of restaurants before and I've never experienced this before. They only trained me for a couple hours and already began charging me before I got to learn their really large menu. Is this legal? I already know a lot of other things that they do there is illegal so it wouldn't surprise me at all but I really need to know! Thanks!
