    Default Carrying a knife

Is it legal to carry a knife in public? If it is, what are the requirements?
Most people tell me that is has to be smaller than your palm diagnally, but that doesn't really make any sense to me.

I have always carried one around with me as well. I never looked into its legality though. I know I would rather feel safe than following the law. There's dangerous people out there.

I've owned a knife since i was 12 and generally carry at least one with me. I've always heard it was legal if its the width of your palm, with some exceptions. Spring assisted is legal but spring loaded is not, for example. i just recently got a butterfly knife though, and i cant seem to find a site which i can ACTUALLY read the laws for themselves so i can find out. if anyone finds out, please, let me know.

For some reason butterfly knives are taken very seriously legally. I have seen numerous times where butterfly knives are categorized in the same class as spring loaded knives. Not quite sure why, and I am sure you know how vague the laws are regarding them. I would never use a balisong in a fight, but thats just my opinion.
