Hi, my daughter has custody of my grandson who live with me. The father has been in jail, just got out of drug and alcohol rehab and is in a halfway home. He owes over 7,000 in child support because he always quits working when child support get attached. He keeps saying he wants my daughter to drop the child support and he would sign over his rights to my grandson but we were told he cannot legally give up his rights unless she remarries and the new husband adopts my grandson. Is this true? Or can he give up all his parental rights?
Thank you. Don't know what to do. I am so confused.
