this is the deal, two people (same sex) live in committed relationship for 17 yrs. The house is in both names as are some credit cards etc. One partner breaks up the other immediately goes to file cabnits and takes ALL paper work, wills, bank statements, tax returns, bill reciepts...absolutely everything and refuses to budge on bit on settling house, returning personal papers etc.
My question is, can the one person legally take all the paperwork of the other, (wills, tax returns, bank statements, etc) and refuse to return it?? Seems that should be illegal to me?!?!?!
