i have a brother that is 22 and hes girfriend is 18. the were having protected sex and she became pregnate. Her mother found out and forbid him to be around her. now she wants to take the girl who is 18 to get a abortion. iwanted toknow if she could leaglley make her do this and can she do this if the father wants the child. the mother is forcing her to do this and saing that she is mentally retarted. this is after she knew that they where having sex and she took he daughter to get protection.

Legally, I don't think mom can do anything except appeal to the courts, but that will be a hard road since her daughter is 18. Try to understand where mom is coming from, though: she is looking at the possibility of having to raise another child. There are other resources for your brother and girl friend to consider. i.e. pregnancy hot line, Department of Human Services, Family Planning, etc. Do some research. There are people who can help her better than you or I. Good luck.
