Question Parental rights for 18 year old?

I've heard that this varies from county to county. We live in Cumberland country.

My questions is: Can my 18 year old move out at 18, or do I have control until my child graduates?

I have been told both and I know that my child support agreement(which is from adams county) requires the father to pay support "until the child turns 18 or graduates, which ever comes LATER."

The age of majority in PA used to be 21 but it is now 18 (however, I cannot find a source for this info - this is just my personal understanding). This means your 18 year old may be able to move out on his or her 18th b-day and it doesn't matter if he or she is in school because in PA you only "have to" go to school until age 17 (per PA code at this link: 022 Pa. Code §11.13.Compulsory school age.).

Thank you. But what if they plan to stay in high school and graduate, but just change their place of living. Then do I have control?

My understanding is that being in school doesn't matter - if they are 18 or older they can do what they want, which means staying in school or leaving school as they see fit.

Default looking for help for 18 year old

I have a friend who is living with his sister because his parents walked out. He is a senior in high school and he will turn 18 before he graduates. His sister is kicking him out when he turns 18 unless he starts to pay rent and because he goes to high school, he won't have any money to pay rent so he will be on the street. I don't know how to help him and was wondering if anyone has any advice. Is his sister allowed to legally kick him out if he is still in high school just because he is 18? I am really worried about him but my parents can't afford to have him move in to our house. what can he do?

Yes, his sister is allowed to kick him out when he turns 18. Even if she is his legal parent or guardian she can do this. It's an awful thing to do, but it's perfectly legal.

If you Google homelessness and the name of your town and state you will find resources that may be helpful. That is the best advice I can give, unfortunately.

I have a daughter that graduates in May but she is only 17. She lives with her mother but wants to move out on her own for the summer. Do i still have to pay her mother child support until she is 18 or can i stop since she doesnt live with her anymore.
