Word has it that beginning soon, there will be a microphone at the service desk at my place of employment, recording nonstop. I do not mean recording telephone calls (although MY end of the conversation would be recorded) but our interactions with customers and other employees. All tapes will be sent in to the main office. As far as I know, there was not as much of a HINT toward anything other than being video taped (surveillance) in the contract I signed upon getting hired. I feel as though my privacy is being invaded. Is this legal? Do they need to take any preliminary steps in order to be allowed to do this, or is it perfectly acceptable for them to do?
