Here is my situation. A few days ago, a friend of mine sent me a text asking if I knew a girl Gina from Lansdale, Pa. I said no. So he tells me this girl is sending him pictures of me that are of an Adult content I had taken with an ex of mine 10 years ago. And I used to live in Lansdale, Pa.
I come to find out the girl who is behind this is a friend from California who many years ago, actually around the time of taking those pictures I had exchanged photos with her and her boyfriend. She is a friend of my ex, so I was okay with this as we were all open about it. We all then deleted each others photos. OR so I was told. Here she even lied to her boyfriend about deleting them. She hacked into an Account me and my boyfriend had on Yahoo years ago. And was posing as us as a couple looking for couples or single girls to trade pics with her. She was sending my nude and partially nude pictures, along with my exes nude pictures, to these people without us knowing.
IS this legal for her to do? She lives in California and we live here in Pennsylvania. Her boyfriend who is high up in the industry completed gave her up to me and I have all the saved conversations. However when saying to him how it is illegal for her to do that, he said it isn't. That once I uploaded those photos to my computer, they are of public domain. And they are not copyrighted pictures. So in other words ANY photos I have loaded on my computer anyone can steal and use.
Is this correct? I am going to see a lawyer on Thursday about this. But I really want to know if I am wasting my time. I am horrified about this all. It was a thing of the past when I was only 21. I made some bad choices taking those pictures. But that she is even sending them to my friends is creeping me out. Knowing my friends have nude pictures of my is very upsetting. Thankfully they are all being very understanding of this all.
