Default Police: just revenue agents for the insurance industry?

    Hey All

This is just a conspiracy theory Ive heared. I've heared that the police force are little more than revenue agents for the insurance industry. Can anyone validate this idea?

The respective states rake in enourmous amounts of money enforcing what has been called "administrative" crimes. But aren't a large amount of those just juxtapositions to ensure that insurance claims don't get contested or challenged by people finding legal loopholes? (thus the staggering number of enforceable laws in the revised criminal code of the U.S. and all the respective states.)

Who is it really that gains the most by the millions of arrests and tickets given out each year?

Absolutely, positively untrue, unfounded and without merit.

The valiant men and woman who give their lives for little pay and long hours in a dangerous job that takes the lives of over 160 police officers a year in the United States alone are a special breed of selfless people we know as Heroes. Do you really want to know who gains by the arrests and the tickets? YOU DO!

The police give you a ticket for driving 85 in a 65. Why? Because doing 85 in a road rated for 65mph or less is dangerous to not only yourself, but others. Every 10mph you exceed the speed limit, you double your chances of an accident. An accident which could take your life or the life of an innocent little 8yr old girl, or even a nun. That fine is supposed to hurt, to teach you to not speed again. It's tough love.

The police are here to protect and serve, even if that means protecting you from yourself.

As for tickets, there are no quotas. It isn’t income. It’s a fine, because you did something wrong. Deal with it. It’s supposed to suck. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t deter anyone from breaking the law. As for the cuffs, they are supposed to hurt. You don’t like it? Don’t do something stupid that would get you put in cuffs in the first place!

Sure, the number of arrests and tickets do get reported and they do have a determination on how much state and federal grants the departments get. However, that means the cops get ripped a new one from management when they give too many breaks to people. Good people make mistakes, and a lot of officers have a heart. However, that ticket is proof that the officers are doing their jobs so the bean counters who never worked a beat in their life will give us our 30 pieces of silver to purchase body armor that may actually work worth a damn. Maybe radios that actually work. Or a car that isn't breaking down every other day.

There is no such thing as a victimless crime. Even insurance fraud. You defraud an insurance company, you raise the rates of everyone else. We then all become victims. Then of course, if the insurance company falters, who bails them out? The government. With who’s money? OURS!

What insurance claims that don’t get contested by legal loopholes do you refer?

Every single day another insurance company gets it’s behind handed to it for not paying a proper claim. To Police Officers and general citizens alike. I could go on a passionate diatribe against a certain workman's compensation insurance carrier that handles all the Public Safety in the South-Eastern PA & Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan Areas but that would look like I don't love my overlord viceroy the great insurance cartels. *COUGH* DVIT - "We deny every single claim" *COUGH* Ooh, I'm so sorry; Allergies.

There is no love between Public Safety and Insurance companies.

Ignorance and assumption are the mothers of all screw-ups and conspiracy theories.
