I have a company leased vehicle and they are getting ready to install a "Green Tracker" system in them. The "Green Tracker" will transmit data back to the corporate office on driving habits, miles driven and GPS Location, etc. And while I am working and it is a leased vehicle they are providing for me I can see where they can do this. Weather I like it or not however my question has to do with my "off time" Even though I am salary I do get days off, vacations etc where it is perfectly ok by policy to use the vehicle. I provide personal use mileage to the company and it is recorded as income and I pay tax on that. Now with the system "on" all the time, is it legal for them to "track" me on my time off? I would consider that an invasion of my privacy. And they way things are going who has that anymore, but I would like to have some.

vfielder's points are well taken. However, you can circumvent your "invasion" of privacy by asserting an adendum to your employment contract that the vehicle monitoring system be shut down during "Off Time". Will it work legally - Yes. Is it practical - No. Just use your own vehicle when you don't want the SOB's checking up on you lol.
You could probably ask a lawyer about the situation and get something written up. RKMC is a local legal business here. I think that was suggest above, and I think that is about all you can do. I would also agree that it is probably easiest to just drive your own car if you feel that serious about it. However, I'm surprised you feel that strongly about it at this point. You already have to log your miles with them on off-time.

I have given your question a bunch of thought as to GPS in general. Pursuant to Constitutional decisions, the Police may track your vehicle via GPS because you are taveling on PUBLIC streets. BUT, they may also track your vehicle when it travels down your private driveway. Guess the reasoning is that GPS is now available to everyone. The crux is that technology is working against you rather than for you when it comes to the right to privacy. For instance, Google Earth can look into your back yard from outer space satelite even though you have an 8' fence so your next door neighbor cannot look at you sun bathing or raising pot. Most anyone can log onto Google Earth. Scarry!
