It sounds like you need to check with the department of revenue, and then an attorney.
Getting legal advice on tax matters should be done locally, IMHO.

My boat was located in North Carolina for five years, where I paid personal property tax. I moved the boat to south carolina for a few months in an attempt to sell the boat in a bigger market. Since I was in south carolina for 150 days they assessed my propety tax for the 2008 tax year. I have already paid my NC property tax for 2008. Can I be forced to pay two taxes to two states.

come on how much are the taxes more than what a lawyer would cost. and if they are you can probably afford it
You should not have to pay the same income tax twice. Either you need to pay it to the new state and get refunded the amount from the first state or you simply don't owe anything to the new state. Contact a supervisor and explain the situation.
