I am the custodial parent of my 7 yr old daughter. The last 2 times my x-husband, whom I have no communication with, is video taping me each time he comes and picks up my daughter. I do not know why or what is up his sleeve, but its simply creepy. On top of it all, he is also a LT in the NYPD.
My question is it illegal for him to do so? I need to know what my options are.
Please help. Thank you.
Most states, it's legal to video tape someone as long as one person is aware of the taping. In other words, hiding a camera and video taping two or more people who are NOT aware of the camera is illegal. As long as one person involved knows about the camera it's legal. State laws can vary though. What's legal in NY may be illegal somewhere else.
