is it illegal to videotape someone w/o their knowlege?

A guy I work with claims to have a video of me in his home a few months ago and is threatening to show it to my fiance. I do not know how the video was obtained and was not aware that I was being recorded. I dont really care if my fiancee sees the tape, he knows what happened, but I am affraid of how this person may use that video in the future. I'm not even completely sure if he really has one. But I am wondering if it is even legal to record me with out my permission and if not I would like to use that info to get what ever tapes he has from him. This person is a convicted felon and I'm sure he does not want the poliece at his door.

In a State like New York - I am fairly sure that this can be interpreted as invasion of Privacy. Was there a sign upon his property that stated that all that enter his premises were subject to being videotaped? Were you Naked
and to be used for the sole purpose of his sexual gratification? Where you in the process of committing an Alleged Illegal Act ? Has he offered to return the tape in exchange for money / or anything that would be considered of value of him ?
The tape is your property because you are on it, he has no right whatsoever to withhold anything that has your name or likeness upon it this being the very foundation of Privacy Law. Sounds like the beginning of a Blackmail Scenario.
What is his record? Anything having to do with sex crime history? This kind of thing really pisses me off if you have answered Yes/No to any of the appropriate questions aforementioned. How Do you get the Tape Back? Call the Police and Tell them that he is alllegedly secretly Videotaping People entering his House with the intention of Fullfilling his Sexual Gratification. The will make a bee line for his attic and follow the wires to find any Wi- Fi , Cameras and Digital Video Equipment- If they find something- His ass will go to Jail Fast. - Good Luck- Peace to You and Yours
