Default 2 Questions Stereo Systems and Fireworks

Hello all I have 2 questions to ask you.

First off regarding car stereos does anyone know what the exact law says regarding a stereo system being too loud? Some people have told me its only after 10PM that you'll ever get pulled over and others say if you can hear any music outside the car its too loud (Which is ridiculous if you ask me) and I would just like a clear definition. I have a quite expensive stereo system in my car and I was pulled over 1 night driving home and given a warning but it was also almost midnight. I've driven right by police during the day with it turned up and no problems. I can buy a relatively cheap db meter from Radioshack to test myself. I'm just not sure what db measured at what point becomes illegal.

Second question is regarding fireworks. Are they legal in NY? I'm pretty sure they aren't but just wanted to be sure. If they are illegal does anyone know what the fine would be for possession and/or shooting them out in the country somewhere? My cousin from out of state just bought some and asked if it was legal here to bring them so I wanted to check and be sure. I don't want to end up with thousands of dollars in fines but if its not a ridiculously high fine I might take the risk. I know around 4th of july there are tons of people shooting them off all over the place but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean its legal.

    Thanks in advance
