Default Is it legal to charge a customer the credit card fee?

I was at a sub shop the other day and noticed a sign saying....$1 fee added to all credit card charges. Is this legal?

I know that the merchant gets charged a fee for accepting credit cards, but is that legal for them to charge the customer?

It depends. For some, this violates the credit card agreement, but not necessarily a law. Check out this recent post: Your Rights: Squash Minimum Purchase Fees With Wallet-Sized Merchant Agreement
