    Default Laws pertaining to campgrounds

Doesn't a private/public campground have to provide a dumping station for campers? We are seasonal campers and now the campground we are at wants to start charging an extra fee just to use their dumping station for our black water. They have a dumping service for $10.00 but we have always emptied our own camper with a portable tote because we don't want our park model damaged by a careless person. Do they have the right to charge us extra for this when we pay our yearly seasonal fee? They aren't charging weekend campers extra, or tenters extra to use their bathrooms.

I would think that the campground can charge you whatever it chooses to. The renters that are camping for a weekend could be paying it, it's included in the rental fee. Perhaps they are not including that in the seasonal renters fees. I am thinking they can charge whatever they choose to charge you and if you are not happy with it, you can camp elsewhere.

I think that this is legal. Where we camp they sometimes have the dumping station closed! Then we have to go back into town and pay to dump in town.

At least they are telling you what the fee is for. They could just raise everyones fee without explaining why they raised it.

Unfortunately, I don't believe you have a leg to stand on in this case (if you'll pardon the pun). Campgrounds have always charged in accordance with services rendered -- VIP sites vs standard; full hookups vs no hookups; cable vs no cable TV, etc. Supply-side economics, pure and simple.
