Hi, a family member (she is blind and can not use a computer) was recently served court papers from her boyfriend from family court and I am having trouble trying to understand some things, and I need a few questions answered:
Does the line that says "the following children are mine but do not live with me" means that the petitioner (her boyfriend) is claiming that the child is his with the respondent (her)?
If this is false and the person who filed the papers knows this is false does this count as perjury?
Can a person who only has a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship and lived with that person make a claim in family court?
We live in NYC. Thank you advance for answering my questions.
There are clients who want their lawyers to pursue frivolous cases for business or may be for some wicked ends... there are clients who also pursue cases only to vindicate their harmed ego. and there are those who would file cases against another if only to ruin them or make the life of the other party harder... So if you have doubts about the papers you have received, it's better to have it scrutinized by your own lawyer first.
