Is it illegal to be in a park after dark warranting a ticket?

I live in brooklyn, NY.
It is usually illegal to be in the park which usually states on the fence the rules including "Park closes at dusk" (when it gets dark). I was once in park after dark looking for my chiold's baseball glove on the bseball diamond and the police who were there talking to someone else approached me and asked me what I was doing. When I explained they let me go but said they could have given me a ticket.
