My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: New Jersey/ New Hampshire
I have no family problems, have never had any reason to seek emancipation from my parents, and have never received legal counsel before.
Recently I went college visiting to Dartmouth (among other schools) in Hanover, New Hampshire. I am a resident of another state (New Jersey) and am interested in knowing if there is a way for me to finish the school year in the local high school in Hanover while drawing more interest in Dartmouth and the community surrounding it.
Currently, I am acquainted with a person my age who boards with another person in an apartment on his own. His step-father is a professor at Dartmouth but they do not live together.
Is it possible for me to live alone in New Hampshire while attending the local high school there? If there is a family friend willing to serve as my legal guardian for the extent of time I will be staying, will that affect the matter?
