is it legal to park your car in your own driveway?

a man told my mom that she had to either get rid of the car in her driveway or park it in the garage. After she asked him why he replied because the car was on jack stands and the tires were flat, and it was an eye sore. This was not a police officer but an officer of some kind because his car said official business on the side of it and he wore a badge. She owns this house, it is paid for. He also said that someone turned her in. That statement upset my mom because it made her feel like she was some kind of outlaw felon when she didn't do anything wrong.

Does your mother live in an area with an HOA? Is the car registered? I don't know about having to put the car in the garage because of flat tires but our HOA is so strict we HAVE to park in the garage so I could see a neighbor getting upset if the car was in fact an eyesore.

no this neighborhood has no HOA this was one of the first houses on this block, it was built by my dad back in 1972. The car was not registered and had no plates, but by no means considered a rust bucket. But I actually got rid of it and have not heard from anyone since. It just agrivates me that our rights are slowly being taken away from us one by one.
