Hello, I am wondering if in the state of Minnesota you are required to have any kind of license to run a mobile DJ business? Also I am looking for resources on small business/tax law and would like to learn the in's and out's of running an LLC. Where is the best place to begin in this process? Anyone with knowledge in regards to public performance of copyrighted music for DJ's would be excellent. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks![]()
My self working as a DJ in a club primarily, know that the establishment was required to be licensed By a representative of RIAA. The RIAA sees that you are profiting from playing this music and should get there share. If you were to get charged by RIAA, and perhaps, being the first one in your area (news worthy), they would use you as an example. Meaning heavy fines. To be on the safe side get licensed.
