is it illegal to own a duck as a pet.

this is a serious question, not just a joke to get views or anything, a good friend really wants a duck and i find it funny but think it would be something cool to experience and take care of, so please post back with the answer, i will be looking constantly. i live in grosse pointe michigan.

Hi. I am not sure if it is illegal or not, but I grew up around ducks. They actually are really cool!! As a kid it would follow me around the yard and "mimic" my motions with its waddling and bobbing of its head. These were ducks that were outside though...

Just this past weekend, I noticed that the little neighbor girl even has a duck!! I was thrilled!! It brings back a ton of memories for me. We live in a modular community in Perry, MI. So I am assuming that Ducks for pets are okay to have. Again.. that is ASSUMING!!

IF your friend decides to get a duck, one thing is for sure... she will want a duckling that is only one, maybe two days old. For they will attach themselves to that person as a "mother" figure. IF she gets one that is older, that is when the problems with nipping and sqwauking occurs. Then it becomes a big headache and a chore to deal with.

To bond with the duck she needs to get it as soon as it is born and then hand feed it.

I would do alot of research on hand feeding ducklings and what they eat.

I don't know the laws however, what I do know is that at a lot of Farm Stores you can purchase ducks and chickens around Easter. They also sell food and supplies for them. Last year we bought both and had a lot of fun with them.
