I received a letter from Mass. DOR regarding my tax return for the 2006 tax year, saying that I owe taxes, interest and penalty for that year (based on a report from the IRS). 2 questions: Is the Mass. statute of limitations the same as the Fed? and, Am I required to pay the interest and penalty even though the letter was my first indication that anything had been changed?
