Is it legal to use someone in a book, if you change their name? Also do I still need to get permission from the person, written, before I include them? I am changing the names of all the characters, and the places, as well for protection of the individuals used.
Depends.....If you use "someone" in a book, how much detail about that person are you publishing? If intimate details, then permission is required. If general information, the depiction could describe anyone. Therefore, permission is NOT needed. It is a matter of common sense.
