I have lived in my home for 7 years, on one side of my home there is a right of way that runs beside my house. When we boughtthe house theprevious owner had put up a chain link fence not on the property line but on the other side of the rght of way with access through a gate. When we bought the house we had to take down a portion of our fence for the surveyor came but then allowed us to put it back up when done. We are now thinking ofadding on and could use the additional land. Someone had told me that if I had taken care of the property for 7 years then the land could be deeded over to me since it was a non-used right of way any longer and was not being cared for by city, county, state, or federal services. Is this true and what would I have to do to get it the land?
