Is it legal for the city to require me to be responsible for the "plantings" in the city owned area between the sidewalk and the street? I cannot insure myself for any damage that the large tree would cause if it fell because it is not on my legally owned property. My home owners insurance will only cover what is on my actual lot. Is my only option to cut down the tree to protect my self from possible ruin if this old and lovely tree fell down.
