Senerio: parents go out of town leaving 14 year old home alone. Minor had access to guns in the house. Minor decides to 'target practice' at a target that is 10 feet away with a 30-06. Minor is shooting towards a house 1/4 of a mile away. Owner of house hears bullets whizzing past. A bullet hits the garage, coming through said garage, richocheting and exits said garage. Owner goes to kids house to talk to his parent at which time he finds parents are out of town. Owner then calls the police and files a report, now leaving it up to the procesutor what will happen.
Can and will the parents be held responsible for not locking up their firearms? What are the laws in Idaho regarding securing firearms and minor children in the house?
