Drug testing

So I have a curious question. Is it legal for me to ask a vendor provinding material for one of my jobs to take a drug test? I'm just not sure on this one.

A supplier and entering your property on a regular basis, absolutely legal. What type business?

I'm not sure if it would be legal. If you have doubts about that company you shouldn't do business with them. They don't work for you and so I don't think you'd have the right to ask them.

all drug tests are invalid. myself i will fail any drug test. i never in my life used any kind of a illegal drug i dont even drink beer. but 7 days a week i eat poppy rolls. this will make me test positive for illegal drugs. any comments? dont tell me not to eat poppy rolls.

The poppy seeds will only cause a positive drug test if you eat them within a few days before the test. You really can't stop eating a poppy seed for a few days? You have more issues to worry about. I would think that if you had a lucrative job offer it wouldn't kill you to stop eating them for a few days. To each his own.

On a side note, this doesn't mean drugs tests are "invalid." It simply means that there are a few scarce things out there that may cause a false positive. Besides, our opinions don't really matter on the subject. It's the employer's opinion that matters. If you won't submit to a drug screen that they request, then you won't get hired or stay employed. It's that simple.

It is not unusual for a company reguiring drug test of contractors or suppliers. When entering there property you are a liablity. If you have the knowlege of knowing that poppy seeds will cause a positive drug test, why are you still consuming them. Which is more important...the job or the poppy roll?

The "Poppy Seed Defense" has been around for a long time. If you fail a drug test, ask for a hair analysis. You may have to pay for it. It's a more accurate means of testing for opioid use as it is impossible for poppy seed ingestion to produce a false positive result. That’s because the opioid in poppy seeds does not stay in the bloodstream long enough or in high enough concentrations to be trapped inside hair follicles in measurable quantities.
