I'm 34 and have a 16 year old daughter that lives with my parents in California. I live in Washington. My parents do not like my daughter and seem to have finally had it with her, and seem to want to send her to me. A long time ago I lost custody due to the normal mud-slinging and, while no charges were brought or actual allegations made, my parents had to receive custody in my stead and cps has been a part of the picture ever since.

Can they send her to me? Could the California child services pursue some kind of case or interfere? My father is certain that California is both petty and overwhelming enough to demand that I face some form of investigation here in Washington and could lose my younger kids simply on their say so.

As you might be able to guess, it's a bit stressful to contemplate. I do want my daughter here and this is the best place for her, so I need advice please =-)

I recently called M&D Appliance Service in Bremerton, WA to request an estimate for the repair of a stove in a house I am trying to buy. During the conversation, there was never any mention made of any fee whatsoever. Two weeks later, I received a call from the A/R person at this company asking me when they would receive the $97.00 fee I "owed" them for the service call. When I let her know I was not going to pay a fee because I was never informed there would be a charge for an estimate (if I had been, I would not have asked for estimate), she explained to me that "all appliance companies charge for estimates and I should have known this". Two weeks after this, I received a call from Saba and Assc., a collection agency threating me with litigation and additional legal fees unless I paid the money immediately. So far, I have not only not received a copy of the estimate, but a I also have not received a bill for the service call. Needless to say, I am a little PO'd. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB and am waiting to hear back from them.
