Is it legal to build an earthship in colorado? My husband and i really want to move to Colorado. And we also would like to build our own home. An earthbag, straw bale, earthbirmed, earthship type of home. I know you can with earthbags but the earthship really made me wonder. What would the processes be legally to get this done, and the restrictions applied to the building?
There should be a Natural resource commitee or Commission in Your state. If Any material is Hazordous or if anything is unsound in Structure which would result in a cave-in resulting in the danger to you or your neighbors, erosion issues, or other concerns- as long as the state approves your building materials and Blue - Prints of structural integrity(subject to verification) a Qualified Structural plus an Environmental Engineer could Consult you with your Project. This adds credence to Your Cause. Home Owners Assoc.and City/State Inspectors are another Battle.
Pricey though.- Good Luck- If a lady in Cali can Build a House Out of Two Airplane Wings - Who knows What You can Come Up With.
