Hi, I would like to start a podcast and would like to feature music from popular bands in my podcast, my question is, is this legal?
Where can I find more info concerning the legality of this?
Are there copyright laws that apply here or would I have to pay a royalty for using the music?
Also I'm located in Canada, do international laws come into play here?
Thanks for any answers,
Sorry I don't have an absolute answer to your question, but I'm sure many bands wouldn't want you distributing their music in that manner, and I think it would be against the law unless you had the permission from the copyright owner.
For example, wasn't it Metallica that was all over Napster a few years ago for file sharing?
On the other hand, I'm sure many bands would be okay with it, considering it an acceptable form of promotion for them.
