I'm in the middle of taking my CORE training in order to get my hunting license and hunter number in BC. Can I hunt cougar with a .22 long rifle rimfire cartridge? I can't find this information, or even this kind of information, in the regs. Hunt and Hunting are defined by the persuit of wildlife with the intention to harvest, or simply persuing an animal for any reason while in possession of a firearm. I want to know if there are laws regarding the appropriate caliber of a weapon for the animal being hunted, or if it is left to ethical responsibility and common sense.
