Default Blog of a Former Police Officer

You guys might be interested in my blog. I'm a former police officer in Ontario who's now going to law school to become a defence lawyer. Now I write about about a number of things including debunking police myths, traffic enforcement and providing information on new laws and legal issues. My last couple posts were about whether an officer can still give you a ticket if they don't have their hat on, whether police have to show you the number on the radar and whether police have quotas of tickets. If you're interested check it out!

I don't know about Canada, but here in the states.
1..Can an officer give you a ticket with his hat off...yes
2..Do they have to show you the numbers on the radar...no
    3..Do police have quotas...yes

My question...Why after being a police officer would you want to become a defence lawyer. One would think you would want to put criminals in jail.

Because, after having worked for the government, I can say that I have no interest in doing so again! Too inefficient and too bureaucratic. With respect to the moral issues of defending criminal, I feel that all the roles in the justice system, including defence attorneys are important and necessary and in order for the system to work properly, we need to have good players in each position, doing their best.

Are you studying law or there is any benefit you are receiving to become a lawyer as you are a former police officer . Hope you understand my point .
