Default Online retailer to cancel an order after sending confirmation

I ordered an item off of amazon.ca recently. The regular price was approximately $170, but during the boxing day promotion it was listed as $19. I ordered the item, input my information and confirmed. They sent me a confirmation e-mail, with the details of the order, including the item, price and estimated delivery time.

A few days later, I received an e-mail from amazon.ca customer service with the following quote:

"In accordance with our posted policies on pricing, we're unable to
offer items that have an incorrectly posted price. Therefore, we have
cancelled this item from your order.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the
millions of items on our site may be mispriced. We do, however,
verify prices as part of our shipping procedures. If we discover that
an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at
our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or
cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation. This policy is
posted in the Help section and is accessible through numerous other
    areas of our web site."
Is it legal for them to cancel the order after confirmation (which is basically equivalent to a receipt)? On that note, what is the law for price discrepancies at a physical store?

    Thanks in advance.

    Default No but....

    Hi.

No, it is not legal for them to cancel your agreement. However, the problem that you face is that the quantum of your damage is too low to pursue, even in the Small Claims Court. Had it been a larger amount (over $500), then you could have done something about it.
