Is it illegal for a business to call someone at home earlier than 8 am and if so are there any exceptions that allow a business to make that phone call? If that law exists, what are my rights to fight back?

Well in that case if you consider it to be an exploitation case, you have all the rights for legal proceedings.

In most cases if such incidents occur for rare or you were explained about the need to work earlier, then you don't have the necessity to go for legal proceedings as it can only bring you trouble.

well in this particular instance it is a collection company, and not one that i have been avoiding, but they have been calling at about 7:50 am. I know the law in the states is that the cut off is 8 am, but if they keep calling this early i will go crazy from loss of sleep seeing as how i work nights. In the case of collection companies, and given it is so close to 8 am but not quite there yet, do i still have legal standings?

Dont go there!

The do not call list has been acquired by overseas telemarketers who call on behalf of various companies. I work at a phone company, most people have been getting 3x the calls they used to get since they signed up!
