I live in Toronto ON Canada. Can anyone record a telephone conversation without having notifying the other party?
I don't believe so ... unless they are the police and have reason for doing so/a warrant.
I know in the UK that the other party has to consent to, or be notified that the call is being recorded. Whenever you make a call to a call centre in the UK you are told that the call is being monitored.
You need to have legal warrants and rights for doing such things. Otherwise it would be considered illegal. Tapping business conversations can be considered as a corporate crime.
It is my knowledge that you can record any conversation you are active in, however, without consent or permission from the other party it is not valid in court, however, can show intent, or why ever you are recording it.
