Are sexual pictures/videos I took of my girlfriend my property?

I have in my possession many pictures and videos that I took of my ex girlfriend with her consent, of a sexual nature. We broke up because she was talking to people about our private sex lives to people. I gave her a harsh letter explaining to her that if she speaks anymore about our private sex lives, I would reveal her explicit pictures and video.
I just received a registered letter from her lawyer. They state that she took the letter to the RCMP to file a complaint, but they did not find enough evidence for harassment charges.
In another paragraph this is typed... " Please note that the dissemination of any photos, videos, or other information concerning my client now or in the the future will be viewed as an act of harassment and will result in immediate legal consequences. we are DEMANDING that you destroy any and all such material in your possession immediately."
My question is, are these pictures and videos my property? and do I have to destroy them?

I think you got off pretty lucky. You attempted to extort her, (doesn't have to be for financial gain) I'm new so I can't post a link for you to read but a search for the phrase...... globe and mail our laws provide little defence against humiliation should take you to the article.
