I was having a bachelors party Saturday the 10th and we were gonna start bar hopping after two beer so we started to walk and there were a number of officers outside dealing with a different crowd and I had noticed that they had handcuffed a man that was with us so I went over to ask a few questions, not mouth off but question why they were arresting him and they told me to mind my own buisness, I said clearly it was my buisness and I just wanted to know why then they all came over menacingly and said he was fighting so I asked why did they not arrest the other involved and they said that they would if they knew who he was, I said that if you broke up the fight then you should know and then they got mad and told me to leave so I did and when I was about 30 yards from them 5 police officers jumped me and accused me of mouthing off, resisting arrest, opening a police vehicle door, being drunk and fighting, all this was said to different people of my party, I was taken into police custody without having my rights read to me, I asked what I was being arrested for and they said I was mouthy and drunk, I said I was neither and asked for a breathalyzer to prove I was not drunk and they said no because I wasn't driving, so next they processed me and threw me around getting me into the cell, I had insulin in my pocket for being diabetic and I had said to them that I had a medical issue Diabetes and that I had taken a needle before being arrested to combat the sugar from the alcohol and that I never made it to another bar to consume that alcohol (sugar) so I needed to see a doctor or test my bloodsugar to make sure that I was ok since my bloodsugar felt low, they refused to listen and told me they were busy and didn't have time to take me to a doctor and slammed the door, I banged on the door trying to get attention but knowone answered for about two hours then an RCMP came over opened the window sliding latch to look in and laughed at me and asked me if I was thirsty and offered water, I said I needed to see a doctor and or make my one phone call he laughed and slammed the window latch, I banged the door for a long time and said let me see a doctor and there was no reply until the new shift in the morning came on and released me at 10:45 and I was in since 12:30 the night or morning before, I received a black eye a swollen elbow(bruised) and swollen wrists from the handcuff's, what is the breakdown on a law stand point

There is a big difference between what the law says and what officers can get away with regarding drunk people at midnight. The bottom line is, the officers pushed you around, there is no way you're are going to be able to prove your injuries ("He was drunk and disorderly..."), you resisted arrest (MASSIVE ****ING MISTAKE), and you were questioning the actions of a higher authority (higher authority doesn't like to be belittled in public). Police are subject to "group think" psychology just like other gatherings of individuals with a purpose. The officers will all believe what they did was right. This is because like most other young individuals, the police are going to assume you are just drunk and roudy and could not control your actions. Therefor they deemed it necessary to promply detain you. Now the issue of not having your rights read to you or why you were being arrested is a gray area. Although it is required by our Constitutional law to have both of those said to you a lot of officers just won't. Your best bet would have been to have waited until you were released, go to the clerk at the station and request that you recieve the names and badge numbers of all the officers involved in your arrest and detention. She would have had no choice but comply as that is an obvious right we all have. Then you could have filed a formal complaint and would have been able to retell the events in detail to possibly have those officers punished for their actions. Otherwise you will get nowhere.
